Household Solar Electric Vehicle Starts from Tongji

    On November 24th, the launch ceremony of the Innovation Journey in China of Stella Lux, a household solar electric vehicle, was held jointly by NXP and Tongji with the aim of promoting new green energy vehicles and supporting the demonstration project of Shanghai Intelligent Vehicle Network. Jiang Bo, Vice-President of Tongji University, Zheng Li, CEO of NXP China and Pang Chunlin, Secretary-General of China In-vehicle Information Service System Application Union attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

     

     

    Stella is the first solar electric vehicle in the world, designed and manufactured by students of the Technical University of Eindhoven. By adopting V2X Technology, an innovative interconnected car technology of NXP, its upgraded version Stella Lux, whose total weight is only 375kg, can travel 1,500 km with the a speed of up to 125km/h in fully charged station. In December 2014, NXP established strategic partnership with Tongji University. A joint laboratory was co-founded by NXP and the team of Professor Liu Fuqiang from College of Electronics and Information Engineering to cooperate in the development and research on V2X communication technology. Through this event, NXP and Tongji University successfully connected Rongwei E50 electric vehicle and Stella Lux, thus making contributions to the development of the next-generation new green energy and intelligent connected vehicles.
